Simon was a wonderful husband and stepfather, he was liked by everyone he met, he was a kind and gentle man who always managed to make me laugh he was also a very talented artist. Simon will be sorely missed by family and friends, life can never be the same again without him.
The following poem just about sums up my feelings:

this event is once again being run in memory of our late and very good friend Simon.
you are often in our thoughts and every year this memorial trophy is played for in the true spirit of friendship that we remember you for.
it is still hard to believe that you are no longer with us.

Phoenix Gaming Club - SFS Trophy 2010
we are a group of Simons friends from Northamptonshire whom he used to meet up with to enjoy our hobby of wargaming.
this is re-enacting battles on tabletops with painted miniature figures.
his friends are once again proud to be involved in the SFS Trophy, the Simon Freshwater-Sturgess Memorial shield and this is the second year of its running.
whilst his former firends are involved with the club we will always keep his memory alive, and once again thank Jay for allowing us to run this event in Simon's memory and honour.
it was a privilege to know you, rest in peace my friend.

~A butterfly came floating by and I thought I knew its face, it landed on my shoulder and spread its wings of lace, I looked and saw it smiling as it winked and flew away, i'm sure I heard it whisper we WILL meet again one day ~goodnight and God bless xxx
